Obituary of Felisitas Ponce

Felisitas Ponce, age 87 of Pearland, passed away on September 26, 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, Geronimo & Blasa (Ayala) Vargas; husband, Jose Perez Ponce; son, Joe Louis Ponce; and grandson, Mark Guerrero. She is survived by her son, Antonio Ponce & his wife Isa; daughters, Genevie Ponce and Grace Ponce; grandchildren, Hecter Lopez, Luiz Lopez, Amanda Guerrero, and Jose Ponce; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of many other family & friends. Felisitas was born on July 10, 1922 in Temple, Texas and resided in the Houston area her entire life. She was considered the wise matriarch of her family and was referred to as “Grandma Kitty” because of her love for stray cats. In her neighborhood, friends and neighbors would often bring their children to Felisitas when they were sick and she could help them with her home remedies. She was also a talented cook and loved to have her family over to enjoy her meals. Felisitas continued to drive until she was 75 years old and was blessed with good health throughout most of her life. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. Visitation for Felisitas is be on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm recited by Deacon Darvin Bordelon. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 11:00 am at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland. Rev. Reginald Nesvadba will be officiating. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland.
