Shirley Burgin Goodnight Cain Barnhart, age 90, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024.

 

She was born in Garner,Texas on August 23,1934, to Mercer and Mildred Burgin. Shirley graduated from La Porte High School and was employed by DuPont, La Porte. She started as a mail girl there and worked her way up to become the first

female supervisor.

 

Shirley is survived by her brother, Bob Burgin, her daughter, Jerrie Hilborn and her sons, Mike Goodnight and wife Marla, Rick Goodnight and wife Rebecca, Darrell Cain, Kent Cain and wife Mary, and Richard Cain. She has 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jerry Goodnight, Arvil Cain, and Glen Barnhart, her son, Larry Cain, daughter-in-law, Denise Cain, and great-grandson, Dakota Cain.

 

Honorary pallbearers are Josh Goodnight, Joe Goodnight, Scott Hilborn, Richard Cain Jr., Anthony Cain, and Memphis Waller.

 

Shirley was a faithful servant and follower of her Lord. Throughout her life she was an inspiration and joy to all her family and friends. Shirley was a very generous, caring person and is fondly remembered for her loving heart and warm personality. She loved her family "to the moon and back".

 

Visitation will be held Friday, December 20, at 10am, followed by the service at 11am at Clayton Funeral Home in La Porte. Interment will follow at Grandview Funeral Home in Pasadena.
