Obituary of Doris Lynn Napper
Doris Lynn Napper (nee Tipton) graduated to Heaven with her family by her side on November 14, 2024, in Houston, TX at the age of 84.
Doris was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, always ready to offer a helping hand or open her home to those she loved. Her warmth and generosity touched everyone who knew her. Her love of learning inspired many. A woman of great creativity and many talents, Doris had a special passion for sewing. With the gift of moving a needle through fabric, we feel she stitched a piece of her heart into all of us, leaving a lasting legacy of love and care. Her infectious laughter, her countless "country sayings," and the comforting hugs she gave so freely will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was an active and devout member of the Monument Baptist Church and Sewing Seeds of Kindness. She cherished her church family and looked forward to the fellowship they provided each week. Her love for challenging games that required strategy and fun competition was something else she looked forward to with her Joker club.
Doris was born on January 22, 1940, in Pennington, TX to John Luther and Lucy Tipton where she fell in love with the Piney woods of East Texas.
Doris was preceded in death by her former husband Ray Napper, brother Douglas Tipton, and nephew Jerry Napper.
She is survived by her children Doug Summerford, Raelynn Napper and wife Tessa Milman; her grandchildren Brittany Summerford and Christiana and Matthew Napper-Milman; sister in-laws Alma Tipton, Rachel and husband Chuck Ellis; brother in-law Ronnie and wife Shelley Napper; nephews Darryl Daugherty Jr. and Mike Napper.
The love and prayers Doris received from her church and community over the years were a source of strength, and her family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of kindness and support during this time.
The funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Monument Baptist Church in Deer Park, TX. Pastor Mike McMahon will officiate the ceremony.
Flowers are welcome or donations in lieu can be made to Sewing Seeds of Kindness via Monument Baptist Church (direct your donation via “message” on the website).
