Obituary of Jessie Ruchell Harrison

Jessie “Ruchell” Harrison, 90, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Idell Fletcher; husband Will Ray Harrison; son Rolland Harrison; brother Leonard Fletcher; and grandchild Jordan Gardner. Left to cherish her memory are her son William Richard Harrison and wife, Selayne; daughters Shelly Gunter, Donna Gardner and husband, Rick; sister Bobbie Patterson; grandchildren Keith Gunter (Erica), Susie Duttinger (John), Michael Gunter (Jena), Ray Harrison (Kindra), Noel Rodriguez (Jay), Michelle Gunter (Chris), Robert Harrison; sixteen great grandchildren, and a host of many other family and friends.

Ruchell was strong in her faith and an active member of her church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Ruchell was married to the love of her life, Ray Harrison, for 61 years until he passed in 2016. Ruchell and Ray were born in the same town and same house and went to the same school in rural Mississippi. She loved travelling back to Mississippi and made many trips there to visit family and friends.

Ruchell and Ray had four children, Rolland, Richard, Shelly, and Donna. When their children were young, Ruchell sewed many of their clothes. She also enjoyed crocheting and made many blankets for family and friends. Ruchell loved spending time making crafts of many kinds and especially enjoyed painting ceramics for many years. She adored her grandchildren and loved visiting the butterfly museum and zoo with them. In her spare time, Ruchell enjoyed reading. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services for Ruchell will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 – 10:30 am. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery, in Pearland, Texas.
