Kathy was born in Brownsville, TX, on April 13th, 1949.  Her father worked on dredge boats in many Ports all over the world. She lived in the Virgin Islands as a young girl and eventually went to live in Port-du-Bouc near Marseille, France. That is where she met and married the love of her life, Dede also known to everyone as Frenchy. They eventually moved back to La Porte Texas to start their new family in the 70’s. They were married for 47 years when he passed on their anniversary of Oct. 8th, 2018. She missed him more than words could ever express, and we all know she was ready to be reunited with him and their daughter Jennifer. She was an excellent provider for her family and worked for Kroger for many years as a manager in the fuel center with her dear friend Ruth. She retired in 2019 from the Kroger Friendswood, Texas.

Family was extremely important to Kathy, and she cherished spending time with them. She was very partial to the boys, her nephew Hershel Lee who she helped raise, and was more like a son to her. And her grandson Riley Mathews who was at her beck and call until the very end. She was the most excited about her first and only great-granddaughter Andrea Nevaeh who was born to Cheyenne and Dominic in her same birth month of April in 2020. She loved Sunday visits with her granddaughters Layla and Kaity-bug, and other family, friends, and neighbors. Especially her sweet Jessica, Alyssa’s best friend, who would come play Poker and Spades with her often.  Kathy enjoyed watching football, her team the Dallas Cowboys, playing the lottery and scratch-offs, and the occasional visit to the Golden Nugget Casino.

She will forever be remembered for her wit and wisdom, Her amazing cooking of Cous-Cous, Pork Chops, or Steaks and the occasional Hamburger Helper. Kathy loved reading romance novels and watching television, which in the living room was never turned off-ever… She loved country music, Elvis, and dancing with her husband. They even frequented Gilley’s back in the late 70’s.

If sunshine had a physical form, it was Momma Kathy, beautiful and warm. She will always be remembered as the center of our world, a source of energy for life in our family.  She inspired them and was extremely happy when Abe and Alyssa Finally tied the knot in the Hill Country in 2020. Those memories and many others will be held close for all her loved ones to cherish forever and always...

Everyone that knew her was touched by her invisible warmth and felt the love she had for each and every one of them. She will be greatly missed all.
