Jack served his country in the Army Air Corp in WWII, as an Airplane Mechanic. He and Bert Clingan fell in love, married, and never wanted to be apart. They lived most of their adult lives in LaPorte, Texas with forty of those years spent in the Lomax community. Jack worked for DuPont for twenty - three years and retired there. He and Bert worked as house parents at Boys Harbor and Presbyterian Children’s home in Waxahachie, Texas. He served as a Bus Driver and in their maintenance department. Before retirement Jack loved to camp in tents, but after retirement he enjoyed spending time in a cabin on his land in Centerville, Texas. Jack thought there was no better hamburger than a Whataburger!
Jack had an open and outgoing personality and enjoyed meeting new people. He was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. He was a very independent man and drove until the age of ninety-four. Jack loved his family and always looked forward to being around them at family gatherings. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Paw - Paw”, held a special place in his heart. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
