Esther was born on March 28, 1923 in Yoakum, Texas. She resided in the Houston and Pasadena areas her entire life. Esther had a wonderful marriage of 46 years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother to all of her family and the grandkids affectionately called her “Memaw” or “Grandma”. Esther had a close relationship with all of her daughters and when they were growing up, she stood up for them no matter what. Throughout the years, Esther would take them to the pool, the beach, or the radio station. She enjoyed playing gin rummy and would only lose to the girls. Holidays and special occasions were very important to her and she could delight her family with her excellent cooking skills. Esther kept an immaculate home and always had a hot meal prepared and everyone’s clothes cleaned and pressed. Her sense of humor and laugh were contagious and everyone enjoyed her “one liners”. Esther opened her heart to any stray animals that would come her way. She was truly the matriarch and caretaker for all of her family. Esther will always be remembered for being an excellent example of what a wife and mother should be.
Visitation for Esther will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. The Funeral Service is on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 10:00 am in the Clayton Chapel. Rev. Randall Robinson will be officiating. Interment is at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
